Back From The Dead
Well, the book is done, so it's time for me to get back to wasting time and rambling.

First, for those who care, the news:

The first reader report for the book has arrived, and the reader loves it. So it looks like probably it will be contracted and go to press pretty soon.

Sam is now 6 months old and cute as a button. He's also fairly saintly -- when he fusses, there's generally quite a good reason for it, and he doesn't fuss much anyway. Right now he's sitting happily on the rug playing with toys and babbling to himself quietly.

I have an interview coming up for a job I want, which is promising but affords no certainties of anything.

Sarah is enjoying her NEH year: she finished her book, is playing a lot with the baby, and is getting cracking on the next book.

So all in all, reasonably idyllic; if I could only land a tenure-track job, we'd have nothing to complain about.
